Extension Tubes for Misting System Nozzles

Extension Tubes give the mist nozzle direction, direction to mist over or on something or direction not to mist something.

With a humidification system extension tubes are (just about) always used, always used it two senses. One is to give direction to the mist to avoid hitting something. It may be to avoid obstacles such as ceiling plumbing or electrical piping or a light. Or, it could be to make sure it's not misting over something sensitive.

The other reason is that extension tubes in humidification systems always point up first. Then they bend down and around in the direction needed.

This pointing up at first has a purpose. The purpose is to prevent draining of the line when serviceing the nozzle. If it pointed down or to the side water would leak out of the fitting. When pointed up and piped properly water will not leak (or leak at a minimum) out protecting sensitive items and speeding up service.

Hover over the pictures above and you can see how the extension tube is pointing up at first and then bent around and down.

Extension tubes can be used in outdoor cooling applications but they are not used as much. So keep them in mind when your mist is just not going in the direction you want. Maybe you would like to move your mist just slightly. Extension tubes bend easly and retain there shape.

Extension tubes are usually made out of brass and copper. The 10/24unc connectors on each end are brass. The tubing in the middle is copper. The tubes above are brass and copper but have nickel plated finish on them. This finish give the tube extension sliver (crome) look that will not fade over time like brass and copper would.

Some extension tubes are made out of stainless steel (SS)materials. Below are some of the components that make up a SS extension tube.
