High Pressure Pumps are the heart of misting systems. There are allot of variations, allot of different manufactures and they are manufactured all over the world.
Being manufactured just about everywhere means that the cost of this type of pump varies with manufactured location. Since they are the most expensive item in your misting system I tend to side with USA manufactures. Pump information is plentiful and readily available in the USA. Pump quality is high and parts are available.
In other areas of the world (emerging countries) pump data is practically non-existent. Sometimes not even a small operator's manual.

This type of pump, this positive displacement pump for misting happens to be the smallest in it class. That is why it is given the name Misting Pump. Meaning it's a pump that supplies a small amount of water at a high pressure.
The same pressure pumps are made in much larger capacities for a variety of applications. Car wash facilities use large positive displacement pumps to supply all that spray water around.
Positive displacement pump are plunger or piston type pump. This type of pump do to its inherent characteristics can generate high pressure water easily. Positive displacement, meaning it pushes the water.
If the water cannot be pushed (postive displacement) the pump and its motor will stop.
Not good actually. Motors have to move, turn, or they will --- break. Not really break, overheat at first then burn out. Burn out if safeties are not applied to the motor or pump. Safeties, a big topic for pumps.
Most high pressure pumps do have a some controls and safeties with them.
